The final pay-per-view before WrestleMania is upon us and the card has shaped up quite nicely. A lot of intrigue was built for the show. Will Roman Reigns still be positioned as the challenger to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania or will Daniel Bryan be the one to challenge the beast or will it be a triple threat like last year? Sting and HHH will meet face-to-face with a lot of buzz surrounding it. This will likely be a set up or the announcement of a match between the two at WrestleMania. Rusev has been on a tear through the locker room for the past year and now faces his biggest test to date: John Cena. Will the big Bulgarian be able to stop Cenation or will we see a new United States champion crowned? For a pay-per-view that isn’t one of the big four, this could be a memorable night on the Road to WrestleMania.
Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan
This match has the biggest implications as the winner will advance to the WrestleMania 31 main event for a showdown with Brock Lesnar. There has been talk lately of adding Bryan to what was supposed to be a one-one-one matchup between Reigns – the 2015 Royal Rumble winner – and Lesnar. Has Bryan’s Yes! Movement helped get him in the main event? We will find out tonight.
Prediction: Expect a 15-20 minute match with a ton of false finishes. In the end, I see Reigns winning this one, as the win over Bryan will legitimize Reigns as the guy to face Lesnar. However, the win won’t come without controversy.
HHH and Sting Confrontation
This will be the set up to the Wrestlemania match between the two legends. Will HHH get his hands on Sting or will the Icon continue his mind games?
Prediction: The Game will look to dismantle Sting until the lights go out and Sting nowhere to be found when the lights come back on. After another flicker of the lights, Sting will reappear and deliver a Scorpion Death Drop.
United States Championship
Rusev (c) vs John Cena
This is the matchup I’m intrigued by the most. The Bulgarian Brute has not been pinned or tapped out during his run in the WWE. John Cena is in an undercard title feud, opposed to his regular World Title pursuit. This is the biggest match for the U.S title in quite some time.
Prediction: Rusev will get Cena in the accolade, but Cena will counter with an AA. After a Rusev kick out, he pummels Cena some more before applying the Accolade again. Cena will not be submitted, rather pass out, setting up a rematch at WrestleMania.
Intercontinental Championship Match
Wade Barrett (c) vs Dean Ambrose
Ever since Wade Barrett came back from injury and won the Intercontinental championship, he hasn’t been positioned in the best way. He constantly is losing television matches to guys who have no business beating him, i.e. Sin Cara. Dean Ambrose has been in limbo since his feud with Bray Wyatt ended. His chase for the title has been refreshing, but at this point does the IC title mean anything?
Prediction: After a fun back-and-forth match, Ambrose will go for Dirty Deeds, but Barrett will counter with the Bull Hammer Elbow for the pin and the win. After the match, look for Ambrose to go nuts and beat down BNB.
Tag Team Championship Match
The Usos (c) vs Tyson Kidd and Cesaro
This should be a really fun match from bell-to-bell, if these young guys are given the time. The Usos have been the only consistent thing in the tag division, but are starting to run their course. The pairing of Kidd and Cesaro is on that could help revitalize the tag division.
Prediction: The Total Divas reality show will get some content as Natalya and Naomi will get into it at ringside. The distraction will allow Cesaro and Kidd to capture the tag team titles.
Divas Championship Match
Nikki Bella (c) vs Paige
This feud really has no substance. The Bella Twins make fun of Paige for being pale and Paige just wants her belt back.
Prediction: It would be nice to see Paige win the belt and set up a Wrestlemania match with Charlotte, but that likely won’t happen. After a distraction from Brie Bella, Nikki will retain her title.
6 Man Tag Team Match
Seth Rollins, Kane and Big Show vs Dolph Zigler, Ryback and Erik Rowan
This match was thrown together last minute to give these six guys something to do as none of them have a storyline in place for Wrestlemania, yet.
Prediction: The distention between the Big Show and Kane will prove costly tonight. Big Show will end up knocking out Kane to give the good guys the victory.
Goldust vs Stardust
This is a match that I was hoping to see at Wrestlemania, but we get it tonight instead. That doesn’t mean that it won’t happen at ‘mania. This brother vs brother feud has been a long time coming, but this should be a very good match.
Prediction: Goldust will get the victory promoting Stardust to have a meltdown which will lead to a potential retirement match at Wrestlemania.
