Injuries and youthfulness have been a gift and a curse for the Mystics early on in this season. With lead guard Ivory Latta on the sideline, the Mystics have had to look elsewhere for offensive production.
Now, youngsters like Bria Hartley, Tayler Hill, Emma Meesseman, Stephanie Dolson and Natasha Cloud have to step up and win games for the team.
Wednesday’s loss to the Dallas Wings was a tough loss for the team, but a stepping stone nonetheless. Skylar Diggins, still feeling the effects of a knee injury she suffered last year, did not play despite warming up. But Odyssey Sims had the Wings covered all the same with 22 points on just 13 shots.
Meesseman and Hill were the top performers for the Mystics with a combined 39 points on 24 shots. And despite a late push from the Mystics, getting as close as 77-73, they still were not able to come away with the win after they failed to finish defensive possessions off with rebounds late in the contest.
Still, things are looking up for the Mystics with Hill and Meesseman delivering standout performances. Here are some visuals from the contest.
