Friday night was tough for the Washington Mystics, they got off to one of their worst starts this season and it cost them. The Phoenix Mercury would get their fifth win of the season, as they were trying to figure out why their very talented team was struggling. Diana Taurasi is who stood in the way from the young Mystics team’s furious rally in the second half.
They trailed by as much as 17 before cutting the lead down to as many as five, but the third player in league history to score 7,000 points and the fastest to do so kept them at bay. It felt as if everyone of Taurasi’s 27 points came as answers to a Washington run. The Mercury would hold on and pull out their first win of the season.
The living legend, took some time to talk about Washington’s roster, their talent and their future. Our photographer Travis Ellison caught her and Tayler Hill of the Mystics having a conversation after the game, Diana was kind enough to share some of that conversation and her thoughts on Tayler’s game.
