Led by a sharp shooting point guard and a transition game that every team would die for, Team ATB escaped Friday’s game against Team Don’t Matter with a hard-fought win. Team ATB came out of the gate ready to put the work in to come out of the game with a win as their big man Reyes began the game like a man on a mission. Team Don’t Matter began the game very slow as they could not handle the transition buckets that Team ATB were coming at them with. When playing the game of basketball the number one goal is to stop the ball in transition and Team Don’t Matter seemed to be having trouble doing just that in the 1st quarter. Time and time again Team ATB pushed the ball up the court without the ball touching the ground and Team Don’t Matter seemed to have no answer for their transition game.
Team ATB began the second quarter in the same fashion that they started the 1st quarter. It was as if Team Don’t Matter came into the game with no energy and Team ATB decided to take full advantage of it. Transition basketball and easy buckets was a constant thing in the second quarter until Team Don’t Matter finally adjusted to the tempo and speed of Team ATB. Domo from Team Don’t Matter showed a lot of heart as he carried his team back into the game with a very impressive 8-0 run. Sensing that Team Don’t Matter’s confidence was rising by the minute Team ATB’s coach decided to call a timeout with 1:06 second left in the second quarter as Team Don’t Matter went on a very impressive 8-0 run to end the 1st half.
HALFTIME SCORE: TEAM ATB 35 || TEAM DON’T MATTER: 17
Team Don’t Matter went on a 4-0 run to start the third period, cutting Team ATB’s lead to 35-21. Team ATB seemed to show some fatigue as they did not begin the 3rd quarter with the same fire and intensity that they began the game with. The transition buckets seemed to disappear as Domo hit a clutch 3 pointer that trimmed Team ATB’s lead to 35-26 with a few minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Sensing his team’s lead slowly evaporating Team ATB’s coach called a clutch timeout to settle down his troops. Let’s just say that timeout may have saved the day for Team ATB as they went on to go on a 6-0 run behind sharpshooting point guard T. Docket’s two consecutive three-point shots that helped push his team’s lead to 43-26. T. Docket gave Team ATB the spark that they needed as he hit another clutch three point shot that pushed the score to 43-28 to end the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter began with AJ from Team Don’t Matter hitting a deep three-point shot. As soon as it seemed as if Team Don’t Matter was beginning to show More life (No Drake) Team ATB quickly pushed them back into the emergency room. They began the quarter as if they were watching 2017 Golden State Warriors highlights as they were shooting three point shots from all over the place and that helped them end the game on a ridiculous run. Basketball is a game of runs and this game was no exception to that. Transition basketball, communication and teamwork helped lead Team ATB to a 67-45 win over Team Don’t Matter.
